How to do your hair in under 10 minutes!

Heyyyy 🙂
For those that know me… you know that doing my hair and make up every day is important to me. For those that don’t know me, your probably wondering why?

Over 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with a skin condition called Vitiligo.

Vitiligo (vit-ill-EYE-go) is a disorder in which white patches of skin appear on different parts of the body. This happens because the cells that make pigment (color) in the skin are destroyed. These cells are called melanocytes (ma-LAN-o-sites).

Unfortunately, in Canada, there is no cure for vitiligo at the moment. Over the course of the passed 10 years I have tried a number of different treatments such as creams and ointments. 2 of which actually seemed to work, in terms of stabilizing the spreading of the spots.

Having said that, none of the creams and ointments prescribed to me could be used over a long period of time or permanently. The overall average usage time frame was about 6 months. When I got pregnant with my son, I stopped using all creams and ointments.
The only other option I had to “cover” the spots, were make up. I tried all kinds of different brands and types – to find the best fit for my face/ skin.

To me, doing make up = hair is a must.

I do my hair and make up every single day. I know many others that do this as well. I also know many other people who don’t.

For those who are like me… what I’m about to share with you, is something I like to call a MOM HACK. Whether you’re a mom or not, if you do your hair everyday, you may very well love this!

I found a simple, and quick solution to blow drying and flat ironing (aka straightening) my hair, in just under TEN minutes. If you ARE a mom like myself, then you definitely know that TEN minutes isn’t always something we have to spare. LOL.

Okay, let me spill the beans already…

You need 3 things:
1. Blow dryer
2. Flat iron
3. Brush

You’re going to wash your hair first. Brush it out as best as you can for quickest results. I add a bit of Moroccan Oil to the tips/ ends of my hair before I start to blow dry. Mainly, because I don’t use conditioner and it helps repair the hay (I mean ends lol).

Turn your flat iron on.

Flip your hair/ head down and start to blow dry. You can use your other hand to smoothen it out as you are blow drying. A few minutes in (usually my hair is almost dry when I do this), use the brush while blow drying to straighten everything out as best as you can.

Keep your head down. 🙌🏼

Flat iron your hair while using the brush, yes, while your head is down. It may seem like your not doing a good “straightening” job, but really you are. Realistically, your getting EVERY single piece of your hair this way, I promise!

Feel it…

Feels nice and smooth, doesn’t it?!

If so, go ahead and flip your head back up!

Divide your hair in half. I use my hair line to match and part it from the top to the bottom in the back.

Flat iron/ straighten the “rest” and clean it up, any which way you like.

And VWA-LA!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re done.

This takes me between 5-10 minutes to do everyday. The time will vary based on how long your hair is and how thick/ thin it is. But generally, you can keep the timing under/ around ten minutes.
